Installation & Sign-in
How to install the add-in?
The easiest way is via Microsoft AppSource – or directly in Excel:
- Open Excel → Insert or Home → Add-ins
- Search for “thalas extract” and add it
- Open the thalas tab in the ribbon and sign in with Microsoft
Available for Excel on Windows, Mac, and on the web (Microsoft 365). thalas extract. runs as an Office web add-in – no download or installer required.
How to sign in?
Sign-in uses a Microsoft account. On login, an active license is detected automatically – no separate license keys required. Plans and pricing are on the pricing page.
Are admin rights required?
No. The add-in is added through Excel or the Office Store and does not require elevated permissions. In managed environments, IT can deploy the add-in centrally via the Microsoft 365 admin center.
Add-in not appearing, sign-in failing, or license not recognized?
Restart Excel and check the internet connection. Ensure sign-in uses the Microsoft account that holds the license. In managed environments, add-ins may need to be allowed in Office configuration – otherwise contact IT. If the issue persists, send an email with a screenshot, Excel version, and operating system to support@thalas.ai.
I paid, but the add-in still shows me as a trial user?
Most common cause: you are signed in to Excel with a different email address than the one used at checkout – the license is linked solely via the email address provided during payment. Solution: sign out in Excel and sign in with the Microsoft account whose email address was used for the payment. If that is not possible, send an email to support@thalas.ai including the address used at checkout – we will relink the account.
Documents & Extraction
Which documents can thalas extract. process?
Balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements from PDFs and images – in HGB as well as IFRS formats, including staircase and “thereof” sub-line structures. Scanned documents are supported too; there, an additional OCR checks every extracted figure against the image.
What do the check symbols next to the figures mean?
- ✓ – confirmed by OCR against the document.
- ⚠ – the OCR read something different at this position; click to jump to the source in the document.
- ○ – not machine-verifiable, e.g. due to a weak scan.
- ✎ – the value was edited manually.
